SoCon and FanPlans Team Up to Enhance Travel Experiences

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference has launched a new partnership, SoConTravel.com, powered by FanPlans. This will serve as the Conference’s official hotel reservation and travel booking platform.
FanPlans is a one-stop site for building your live event experience, with hotels, tickets, and local guides for games, concerts, championships, and more. With a free FanPlans membership, fans designate a college to support, and FanPlans sends a portion of its revenue from their bookings back to that school. Schools don’t need to sign up or sign an agreement to benefit.
SoConTravel.com will provide fans with a centralized resource to search for and book hotel accommodations when traveling to Southern Conference championships and SoCon campuses for athletic events. The platform will feature dedicated travel pages for Conference championships as well as individual pages for participating member institutions.
In addition to simplifying the travel process for SoCon fans, the partnership will create a new revenue opportunity for the institutions within the Southern Conference. Participating schools will receive a portion of the revenue generated from completed hotel bookings made through their school-specific FanPlans portal, allowing fans to directly support their favorite institution while booking travel they were already planning to take.
“Our fans travel throughout the year to support their teams, whether that’s attending a conference championship, an away game or visiting a member campus,” said Southern Conference Interim Commissioner Geoff Cabe. “SoConTravel.com gives them an easy, centralized resource to plan that travel while also creating an opportunity for those bookings to generate revenue that supports our member institutions. It’s a model that connects fan loyalty with tangible value for our schools.”
As part of the partnership, Stayker, the hotel booking platform powering FanPlans, will also handle hotel sourcing, contracting, and group housing for the Ingles SoCon Basketball Championships in Asheville and other Conference events.
The partnership combines travel resources for Southern Conference fans with a revenue-sharing model designed to benefit member institutions. Fans can visit SoConTravel.com to explore travel options and book accommodations for upcoming SoCon events.
